I was treated to some great hospitality tonight from my good warbrother *Specopsintl*. He grills an awesome steak, is free-handed w\his beer, and he sure knows his trade. A quiet professional. I also got to see rare US Army Special Forces Combatives reels (good, solid data). I heard 1st-hand accounts from today's combat hot zones. & I got a few business lessons...in other words, I learned a lot from just listening tonight. It sure pays to have good teachers! The new Hall is all set for the Yashai training sessions. We'll have some cool pieces of equipment and a good space to play in. Much will be trained, practiced and learned at our new home. Thanks again Specopsintl for all the hard work, the support, friendship and a soldier's Honor. It sure means a lot to me. I am so looking forward to hanging out in the times to come. Blaise Loong |

Blaise, It was great to hang out and hear all those old stories. I am glad your memory is better than mine, I forgot how much stuff we did some good and some bad!! At least we can still drink beer! I am looking forward to some great training and a good MTX to Thailand with Steve. Next weekend will be great. Take care. Specopsintl (John) |

John - We have a 17+ hour ride on a plane to Thailand, I'm sure I can remember a few more to tell you as well in that time. I will scan some photos of all of us in Biafra and other places and put them on CD for you. We will have a good time training and some good downtime as well. First Thai beer is on me. __________________ Steve Doyle

Reply with quote | #44 | I was contacted by a few of my Nung brothers the past 2 days, in order to assure me that "all is well & normal in Thailand" since the latest coup. Good to hear. Celtic Sword, Specopsintl, and myself will all be in Southern Thailand come November. Blaise Loong |

Celtic Sword & I got to work for a bit w\an excellent "recon" man...I'll call him "Joe". Joe was a Scout Ranger up @ Ft. Lewis. 2nd Bat. 75th Inf. He was super on point (and everywhere else in a patrol formation) and a true, hardcore trooper. Fine shot too. He has since gone on to do high-$ bodyguarding for Hollywood's rich and infamous. I think Celtic has a pic of Joe somewhere (maybe black-out his face too Steve? Not sure of his current status). Blaise Loong |

Cestus - This is the only picture of you and Joe together that I have. I think I only have 1 or 2 other pictures of Joe in my archives. I snapped this picture sometime in the 1980s (wasn't supposed to carry a camera at the time). Since the photo is back to, no need to conceal the face. __________________ Steve Doyle

Very cool. You the man, Steve! As I now recall, we had stopped by a blue line to re-fill the team's canteens, and I had to adjust Joe's battle-harness afterwards (it got fubar'd somehow). Fun stuff. Blaise Loong |

Reply with quote | #48 | The Special Operations Association held a gathering the other weekend in Vegas. I was privileged w/a gift from a couple of USSF SOG legends...John Stryker Meyer (one-zero Recon Team Idaho) & John E. Peters (one-zero Recon Team Rhode Island). They co-wrote a nice memoir that I highly recommend. "On The Ground...the secret war in Vietnam" As an SF Combatives Instructor, I was honored to have them tell me "...Thanks for training SF troops..." Thanks to them! And to all the other men & women (both military & civilian) who serve our great Nation in times of war & peace. We all owe them. Blaise Loong ps -- thanks John J.! |

Reply with quote | #51 | Got this the other day from a contract buddy of mine: CONTRACTOR'S CREED I am a U.S. contractor. I look out for myself, the operators to my left and right, and no one else. I will always take advantage of the fact that I can finally tell military officers to pound sand, and will do so at every opportunity. I am my country's scapegoat, the "plausible deniability" warrior, and I love it. Less than $700 dollars a day is unacceptable. I am trained to eat things that would make a billy goat puke, but will refuse anything less than $60 dollars per diem because I am greedy. I care not for ribbons and awards for valor. I do this job for the opportunity to kill the enemies of my country, and to finally get that boat I've always wanted. I will be in better shape than 99% of the active duty personnel, although this is not hard. I will equip myself with the latest high speed gear, and will trick out my M4 until it weighs more than 24 lbs., not because it works better, but because it looks cool in the photographs. I will carry more weapons, ammunition, and implements of death on my person than an infantry fire team, and when engaged I will lay waste to everything around me. In any combat zone, I will always locate the swimming pool, beer, and women, because I can. I will deploy on my terms, and if it ever gets too stupid, I will simply find another company that pays me more. Blaise Loong |
